How did I get Fibromyalgia

Case studies until now have revealed very little about the way Fibromyalgia develops. Just a few facts are really worth of notice:

70 to 90 percent of the victims are young to middle aged women.

Men, children and elderly people are very rarely affected.

The causes for this prevalence are unknown.

Fibromyalgia cases are often concentrated within certain families. Most likely there is a genetic disposition for the condition, but it is not established which one.

People who develop Fibromyalgia rather frequently show a history of mental or physical trauma, nervous distress, anxiety, extreme ambition, or serious stress over an extended period of time.

In other words: if you are female, do suffer from any stress related symptoms or did so in the recent past and already have a case of Fibromyalgia in your family - or a family member that complains about muscle pain and chronic fatigue - you should take any such symptoms very seriously and should not hesitate to see a specialist when you feel muscle pain or chronic fatigue over a period of several weeks.
